Lentil Bread

A nutritious, protein-packed bread alternative that’s perfect for open sandwiches and naturally gluten-free.
Ingredients
- 1 cup split black gram (urad dal)
- 1 cup split green gram (mung dal)
- Unrefined salt
Instructions

Preparation:
- Wash both dals
- Soak separately in water for 4-5 hours

Grinding:
- Rinse and drain soaked dals
- Grind both dals separately until smooth
- Mix both batters together
- Add salt

Fermentation:
- Keep batter in warm place
- Let ferment for 7-8 hours

Steaming:
- Transfer to dhokla steaming plate
- Spread evenly (1 cm - 1¼ cm thick)
- Steam for 5-7 minutes
- Test with toothpick (should come out clean)

Serving:
- Allow to cool slightly
- Cut into sandwich-sized slices
- Use as bread alternative
- Top with spreads and vegetables
